South West Water Restrictions

South West Water’s temporary hosepipe restrictions are in force as of 00:01am on Saturday 8th August, affecting how water can be used across the region.

While the measures are aimed at reducing pressure on water supplies during the current dry conditions, Salcombe Harbour Authority is keen to ensure that berth holders and visiting boat owners understand what the changes mean in practice.

The restrictions will affect routine activities such as washing private leisure vessels, although provision remains in place for essential boating operations. Harbour staff will continue to assist customers where permitted water use is required and are available to answer any questions regarding the new rules.

Salcombe Harbour Authority is encouraging all users to play their part in reducing water consumption and supporting efforts to conserve supplies during the period of restriction.

South West Water Hosepipe Ban

South West Water’s hosepipe restrictions come into effect on Saturday 8 August.

• Hosepipes must NOT be used for general washing or cleaning of private leisure boats, buckets filled directly from a tap may still be used.

• Flushing of engines is still permitted, and hoses are available to fill onboard tanks.

• Hosepipe use remains permitted for specific exempt purposes, including commercial/professional operations and biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of invasive non-native species.
